Student Exhibitions

The museum hosts 6 exhibitions per year in the George Jenkins Gallery that feature
artwork by Polk County students. From each of these exhibitions, one piece is purchased by
the Museum to be added to our Student Collection.
Transitions: Artwork from Middle Schools of the Arts

This exhibit celebrates the creative talents of young artists from Polk County
Middle Schools of the Arts; Davenport School of the Arts, Jewett School of the
Arts, McLaughlin Academy, and Rochelle School of the Arts.

Senior visual art students present their graduating body of artwork from the
Harrison School of the Arts.
Kids Tag Art

A program by the Polk County Tax Collector's Office featuring license tags
designed by 5th grade students from Polk County schools.
All proceeds from
the sale of the tags go to classroom art supplies.

Creative Youth: 12th Congressional District
Competition
March 9 - April 11, 2009
Reception: Saturday, March 13, 11:00 a.m.
This annual exhibition
features works from high school students in the 12th Congressional District. The exhibit
is organized through the efforts of the Polk Museum of Art and the offices of Congressman
Adam H. Putnam. The piece awarded the Congressional Award will travel to Washington, D.C., to be displayed
for one year in the U.S. Capitol along with other winning works from districts throughout
the nation.

This exhibition highlights work from VSA Arts program of Polk County. This
program is for gifted and emotionally, physically and mentally challenged
students who are enrolled in Polk County Schools. The art works selected for the
exhibition represent a wide variety of media and techniques.
