The Florida Outdoor Sculpture Competition, a joint project of the and Polk Museum of Art, is a year long juried
exhibition of sculptures from around the country. Ten sculptures were
selected by a committee of community members
and Museum staff in late January 2010 from
the entries submitted. Once all of the sculptures are installed, an independent judge will visit the site and select Best of Show, Second Place, and Honorable Mention
winners.
The sculptures included in this year's exhibition are:
Michael Cottrell (Jacksonville, FL), Receptor, Steel, 10’ x 4’ x 2’
James Irving (Morrisville, VT), Divided, Painted Steel and granite, 8’ x 5’ x 3’
Cecilia Lueza, (St. Petersburg, FL), Diversity, Aluminum, stainless steel urethane, paint, epoxies, 6.5’ x 2’ x 2”
Doug Makemson, (Nicholson, GA), Ain’t Gonna Work on Maggie’s Farm No More, Steel, cast iron and oak, 8’ x 3.5’ x 10’
Bruce Niemi (Kenosha, WI), Embrace the Day, Stainless steel, 10’7” x 3’8” x 3’4”
Adam C. Walls (Laurinburg, NC), Creepy Crawley, Painted steel, 3’6” x 6’6” x 3’6’
Bruce H. White (Nokomis, FL), Piecemeal, Powder-coated aluminum, 10’ x 2’ x 10”
Bill Wood (Fairfax, VA), A Few Degrees from Plumb and Square, Fiberglass and polished aluminum, 5’6” x 4’3” x 5’6”

The Central Park Stroll is a public reception in honor of the Ninth Annual Florida Outdoor Sculpture Competition and will be held April 15, 2010, 5:30 - 7:30pm. Prize winners wil be announced at that time, and the
public will be invited to vote for their favorite piece of artwork. A docent
will be located next to each sculpture to answer questions about the piece, the
competition in general, and how to vote for People's Choice. Musical
entertainment is provided, as well as street performers. Local restaurants
and vendors set up food and drink available for purchase.
